What problems does physician coaching help solve?
These are the most common reasons physicians come to us for coaching. If you’re willing to put in the work, we will help you get to the other side.
- Burnout. This job does not feel sustainable, and I want it to last.
- Behavioral. I do this ‘thing’ that’s causing problems for me at work. I’m worried I might lose my job over it, and this isn’t who I want to be.
- Overwhelm. There is too much on my plate, and I’m unsure how to find breathing room.
- Efficiency. Why am I spending so much time completing my charts?
- Leadership. I’ve spent my career seeing patients, and now I’m in a leadership position. I wasn’t trained for this. How do I do it well?

Is coaching worth it for what I want to achieve?
It depends on what your challenge is costing you and the value of solving it.
For some challenges, coaching isn’t the right path. For others, it’s incredibly effective and well worth the investment. Our clients consistently give two bits of feedback: coaching makes them feel more joy in their medical practices and has added longevity to their careers. I’ve never had physician coaching. Is this like coaching sports?
It is not. This 1-minute video explains.
Will I be working directly with Rob?
Yes, you and Rob will work together in one-on-one sessions. In group coaching, such as the Unburnable Course, you’ll work with Rob and his coaching partner, Scott Weingart, MD.
How will I know coaching is working?
Coaching engagements are partnerships. While you commit to the process, Rob also commits to you. Throughout the engagement, he regularly checks in to ensure you are on track to achieve your goals and objectives.
How often do we meet?
It depends on your particular challenge, goals, and needs. Most clients find benefit in initially meeting every week. After building some momentum, the interval between sessions can generally increase, but some prefer to stay weekly.
Why does coaching cost what it does?
There’s no standard rate for coaching. Our rates reflect the mid-range for physician coaching. We are by no means the lowest price, nor are we the highest. We’ve set our current rate to balance client affordability and sustainability for our coaching practice.
Why is the coaching program structured as a 6-month engagement?
After thousands of hours coaching clinicians through burnout, career recalibration, career pivots, and behavioral change, I’ve found that this structure offers the best balance of depth, momentum, and results.
Six months allows us to dig in, explore possibilities, and implement meaningful changes—without feeling rushed or stretched too long.
It’s enough time to make real progress, experiment with new approaches, and build a foundation for what’s next—whatever that looks like for you.
Why do new clients start with a block of sessions and not just go one at a time as needed?
Coaching is about helping you achieve your goals. It takes time to make meaningful changes and get where you want to be.
Can I use CME funds for coaching?
While we do not offer CME credit for coaching engagements, about 75% of our clients use CME/education/professional development funds for our coaching services.
Are coaching fees tax deductible?
In our experience, coaching investments are a fully deductible professional development business expense. Please check with your accountant to verify your specific situation.
Do I get a summary after coaching sessions?
Oh yes! After each session, you are sent a summary of what was discussed, and the action steps are highlighted.
What is a coaching session like?
Below are recordings of actual coaching sessions. Although they might not address the exact challenges you may be facing, they’ll give you an idea of Rob’s approach.

How One-on-One Coaching Works
Coaching is new to most physicians. Here are the basic steps of getting started.
Step 1: Schedule a free preliminary discovery session
We meet to discuss the challenges you’d like to tackle, clarify goals, and envision success.
Step 2: Assessment
If you decide that coaching is the right path for you, we start with an assessment to discover your strengths, opportunities, and blind spots.
Step 3: We get to work
We solve problems, bring out your best ideas, and keep you accountable to make those ideas happen.
