What problems does physician coaching help solve?
These are the most common reasons physicians come to us for coaching. If you’re willing to put in the work, we will help you get to the other side.
- Burnout. This job does not feel sustainable, and I want it to last.
- Behavioral. I do this ‘thing’ that’s causing problems for me at work. I’m worried I might lose my job over it, and this isn’t who I want to be.
- Overwhelm. There is too much on my plate, and I’m unsure how to find breathing room.
- Efficiency. Why am I spending so much time completing my charts?
- Leadership. I’ve spent my career seeing patients, and now I’m in a leadership position. I wasn’t trained for this. How do I do it well?
How much does coaching cost?
Most coaching engagements range from $7,000 to $10,000, depending on your starting point and goals. Behavioral coaching, which includes organizational coordination and leadership meetings, is $12,500. Every engagement is designed to deliver meaningful results and a strong return on investment.
How long is a coaching engagement?
Coaching engagements typically last between four and six months, depending on your goals and the chosen coaching package. Full career transitions may take six months to one year or longer.
How often do we meet?
The process begins with a free 60-minute discovery session. If you choose to move forward with a coaching program, the first official session is 90 minutes. All subsequent sessions are 60 minutes long and are scheduled either weekly or biweekly, depending on the coaching package and phase of engagement.
Is coaching worth it for what I want to achieve?
It depends on what your challenge is costing you and the value of solving it.
Our clients consistently give two bits of feedback: coaching makes them feel more joy in their medical practices and has added longevity to their careers. For more details, here is a link to our testimonial page.
Will I be working directly with Rob?
Yes, you and Rob will work together in one-on-one sessions. In group coaching, such as the Unburnable Course, you’ll work with Rob and his coaching partner, Scott Weingart, MD.
How will I know coaching is working?
Coaching engagements are partnerships. While you commit to the process, Rob also commits to you. Throughout the engagement, he regularly checks in to ensure you are on track to achieve your goals and objectives.
Post-session summaries with action steps and new tools are provided after each session to maintain focus and momentum.
Can I use CME funds for coaching?
While we do not offer CME credit for coaching engagements, about 75% of our clients use CME/education/professional development funds for our coaching services.
Are coaching fees tax deductible?
In our experience, coaching investments are a fully deductible professional development business expense. Please check with your accountant to verify your specific situation.

How One-on-One Coaching Works
Coaching is new to most physicians. Here are the basic steps of getting started.
Step 1: Schedule a free preliminary discovery session
We meet to discuss the challenges you’d like to tackle, clarify goals, and envision success.
Step 2: Assessment
If you decide that coaching is the right path for you, we start with an assessment to discover your strengths, opportunities, and blind spots.
Step 3: We get to work
We solve problems, bring out your best ideas, and keep you accountable to make those ideas happen.
